- The long-term effects of alcohol abuse and alcoholism can be devastating and even life threatening, negatively affecting virtually every organ system.
- How Many Tweens and Teens Are Drinking? Not as many as a lot of them believe and tell each other. The rate of current alcohol use among youth ages 12 to 17 was 15.9 percent in 2007. That means 84.1 percent, or more than four out of five students, did not use alcohol.
